Asamblea de la Facultad de Educación

Cordial saludo compañeros!

Como ustedes saben, hoy se dió el espacio a para debatir el tema de volver o no! a clases, y efectivamente nos reunimos todas las carreras de la facultad de Educación, pero la verdad ho hubo una asistencia masiva como se esperaba y la mitad de las carreras que fueron(Lic en Edu Física, Lic en Ciencias Naturales y Lic en Castellano) votaron a favor de entrar a norrmalidad académica en Enero, no obstante, la otra mitad de las carreras asistentes  (Lic en Matemátcas, Lic en Inglés, Lic en sociales) estubieron de acuerdo en iniciar clases lo antes posible. 

Reintero la importancia de asistir a estos escenarios para dar nuestro voto y argumento (independiente de cual sea) para que despues no estemos quejandonos de las decisiones que se toman en las asambleas.

Para terminar, los invitamos a la asamblea general el dia de mañana (miercoles 23 de Noviembre de 2011) a las 2 PM, recordemos que aun tenemos participación y por favor, si vamos quedemonos hasta el final que es donde se toman las decisiones, ya sea para decidir entrar ahora o en Enero ó para conocer nuevas propuestas por otras facultades, recuerden que allí se va a tomar la ultima palabra ya que va a estar presente toda la universidad.

First meeting BA in English Working team

El día viernes 21 de Octubre en la primera reunión de la mesa de trabajo de la carrera, resolvimos crear un blog o pagina de la carrera, para informar todo lo que sucede al rededor del paro y las problematicas de la univesidad y de la carrera, para acabar con el grupo del facebook, el estudiante Andres Potes queda a cargo de la creacion de la pagina, al mismo se le va a enviar la información a públicar, de este modo la información publicada en la pagina es lo que se ha planteado en la mesa de trabajo eliminando los correos y los malentendidos por Facebook.


- Se habla de hacer un conversatorio sobre la constituyente, para informar a los estudiantes y en general al que se quiera informar, para el día 31 de octubre 6.00 pm (fecha aún no definida), a cargo del estudiante Felipe Urueña queda localizar el profesor y personas que van a dirigir el conversatorio y de hablar para que nos faciliten el aula multiple, ya que surge la idea de utilizar el internet en este sitio para que los estudiantes que no puedan asistir al conversatiro lo puedan ver a traves del internet.


- Surge la idea de crear un medio de informacion por radio para la carrera, (nuestra emisora online) y asi difundir comentarios o crear algunos conversatorios (temas variados e interesantes), y para que se informen los estudiantes de que sucede en la universidad, además de emitir música en Inglés mientras estan en casa, esta emisora solo funcionaria por una hora al día, (en un comienzo, mientras mas estudiantes de la carrera se vinculen para darle vida) queda a cargo del estudiante Stiven y la profesora Johana Albino.


- Surge la idea de crear un video informativo para invitar a los estudiantes al conversatorio de la contituyente (video promocional) que tendria que salir al aire en el blog de la carrera el dia miercoles 26 de octubre (hasta la fecha estamos en ajustes técnicos por lo cual es mas seguro que salga al aire el prox viernes 28 de Octubre).


- Con las reuniones y ensayos para el video surge la idea de formar el grupo de teatro en Inglés de la carrera!!! un proyecto ambicioso que busca posicionar nuestra carrera entre las mas nombradas en Colombia, por ahora contamos con el apoyo del maestro de teatro de la Universidad del Tolima y con estudiantes con un excelente nivel de Inglés, los estudiantes interesados dejar sus comentarios.

Assembly 20 Oct. 2011 "Relatoría"

Siendo las 6.30 pm del dia 20 de octubre del año en curso, se da inicio a la asamblea de la licenciatura en inglés, haciendo una lectura del orden del dia y se somete a votacion siendo esta aprobado, donde de los 6 puntos expuestos solo se concluyeron los 5 primeros, siendo estas las conclusiones:


1. Los estudiantes y catedraticos estan de acuerdo con el paro estudiantil universitario. No obstante, los docentes recalcan la importancia de tenerlos en cuenta y vincularlos a las actividades culturales y pedagogicas realizadas en la universidad y planear espacios de discusión y departicipación.


2.Los docentes garantizan un proceso academico adecuado y acorde con las necesidades de los estudiantes. Respetan el horario y los lineamientos dados por la universidad para cubrir el semestre en curso. Finalmente, la profesora Milena Castellanos, propone que cada profesor envie las notas recogidas hasta antes de empezar el paro, para que los estudiantes tengan una idea de como van en cada materia y no tenga miedo de perder el semestre, y que las notas despues del 7 de septiembre no se tendran en cuenta.


3. Se crea la mesa de trabajo con estudiantes asistentes a la asamblea, se pide que estas personas tengan perfiles, obligaciones y deberes, perose determina que estas personas deben estar comprometidas con la labor y que tengan disponibilidad de tiempo, se inscriben de diferente semestres. La lista queda en manos del representante de la carrera


4. Se aprueba la sencibilización a los padres de familia para el día martes 25 de octubre, 7 pm, por medio de un comunicado por escrito para la asistencia, el profesor Alexander Arciniegas, coordinador de la carrera, quqeda en realizar el comunicado y rotarlo por correo u otro medio para informar a los padres de familia sobre el evento.


5. se establece que la misma mesa de trabajo será la que actue en la cosntituyente.


Dentro de la asamblea se hicieron las siguientes propuestas;
- crear un espacio en la cartelera del muro de los lamentos que sea de la licenciatura en Inglés.
- Que sean los profesorres, los que convoquen a los estudiantes en las fechas asignadas.
- la mesa de trabajo es la que dará las fechas a las actividades y a las asambleas.
- Que no haya violencia en las actividades del paro (no tirar una sola piedra)
- Utilizar medios de comunicación para que los profesores citen a una clase y se lleven a otro auditorio o espacio.
- Proponen fechas fijas, con tiempo, para las asambleas.
- Proponen la proxima reunion de la mesa de trabajo el día viernes 21 de octubre, a las 6.00 pm en el parque Ducuara.
- Propuesta a la mesa de trabajo - Proyectar una pelicula a la universidad, titulada, "Escritores de la Libertad" 


Siendo las 8.50 pm de la noche selevanta la asamblea de la Licenciatura en Inglés.

As there are people who are concerned because there are not too many activities to do at night, there is a proposal for tonight:


- All the people interesting in supporting tomorrows march, hug contest and kiss contest, we should meet tonight in order to create posters bilingual and posters showing that BA IN ENGLISH is present... please leave your comments 

- Second proposal: we can also prepare activities for every night and that's why we create this Blog and the Working Group because we cannot speak for all the career, is necessary to leave your own proposals.

Remember, we are going to invite not only parents but also neighbors, brothers and sisters, uncles, etc... the idea is to share what's happening with the education.

Comunicado presentado en la asamblea general el 5 de Octubre

Sorry for the Spanish but I wanted to put the original document read during the general assembly, because we have the right to know what was the document read in our name. Hope you read it and leave a comment about it, the "mesa de trabajo" is workng to develop these proposals, and take out some of them depending on the decision of the career.

Comunicado 002 licenciatura en Inglés



"La universidad pública respeta la libertad de expresión, privilegia la crítica y la rebeldía intelectual; construye democrecia porque da la oportunidad a miles de jóvenes excluidos de ingresar a la educación superior. La universidad de y para libre pensamiento".

En este sentido el programa de Lic. en Inglés ha venido adelantando una serie de asambleas para discutir tanto la situación interna de la universidad y el programa como la reforma a ala ley 30. En consecuencia surgieron una sere de propuestas para afrontar las problemáticas mencionadas anteriormente.

Por otra parte, basados en la autonomía que tiene cada programa para la toma de decisiones (decisión tomada en la asamblea triestamentaria), y en vista de la radicación de la reforma por parte del gobierno el día Lunes. El programa despues de un consenso general decide apostar por una de las propuestas hechas en la asamblea triestamentaria, la cual consiste en:

1. Retomar la normalidad académica formativa y evaluativa con notas durante 4 días por semana, en los cuales se otorgara 20 minutos por cada bloque de 2 horas para generar un espacio de disución y planeación de las actividades a realizar en torno a la constituyente y la reforma a la ley 30 lo cual garantizaría la participación de todos los docentes y los estudiantes en las dicuciones y las actividades programadas.

2. designar un día en la semana para llevar a cabo una campaña de sensibilización en torno a la reforma, dentro y fuera del campus universitario para darle a conocer a la ciudadanía la problemática. (donde se lleven a cabo las atividades planeadas durante el espacio de discución mencionado en el punto anterior.

3. Participar en las marchas nacionales programadas, pero rechazando cualquier tipo de violencia generada especialmente despues de finalizar la marcha. Entendiendo que se busca concientizar a la ciudadania para que se una al movimiento estudiantil, y sabemos que los echos de violencia generan un total rechazo por parte de la misma, perjudicando la campaña de sensibilización que se quiere hacer por parte del programa.

4. Recolectar firmas despues de un proceso de sensibilización (explicado en los puntos anteriores), para buscar una vía legal en contra de la reforma.

5. Convocar a marchas a nivel regional una vez realizada la campaña de sensibilización en caso de no tener respuestas por las vias legales.

A continuacióñ presentamos algunas de las propuestas contemladas para el día de sensibilización a la ciudadanía.

1. Reunión de padres de familia del programa. (general)
2. Conversatorio sobre constituyente (en cada salón)
3. Foro sobre la ley 30 (en cada salón)
4. Marcha silenciosa en los separadores sin obstruir el trafico (general)
5. Breve explicación y entrega de volantes en las busetas (general)
6. Entrega de volantes en puntos estratégicos (tercera, multicentro, plazas de mercado, etc)
7. Dramatizaciones sobre la muerte de la educación y las implicaciones de la reforma en la plazoleta Dario Echandia (general)
8. Foros sobre las implicaciones de la reforma en los colegios a cargo de los estudiantes practicantes de la facultad de educación.
9. Simular clase en el centro de Ibagué con pancartas alucivas a la reforma.
10. Petición en los medios de comunicación locales para la realizacióñ de un foro.
11. Jornada de estampados.
12. Blog o página web donde se suba la información y cronograma de actividades.
13. Votos sobre la ley 30 para las elecciones regionales del 30 de Octubre.
14. El 30 de Octubre a los alredeores de los sitios de votación, entrega de volantes y sensibilización por medio de pancartas sobre la educación superior y la reforma.
15. Tutelas o derechos de petición simultaneos en aras de hacer colapsar el sistema judicial.
16. Plebicito.
17. Video informativo sobre el paro y la actuación de la comunidad universitaria en el mismo.
18. Convocatoria a un día de paro regional por parte de los estudiantes, trabajadores de salud, empresas de servicio público, padres familia, docentes, colegios etc. Demandando que se garantice: 1) la educación 2) salud, 3) garantias laborales de empresas de trasporte y 4) las reservas de agua (mina la colosa).

The Role of Music in Young Learners’ Oral Production in English

This article reports on a study conducted at Universidad Nacional de Colombia in the foreign
language extension courses. The author shows how young learners who study English in this program
can develop their oral production by making and listening to music. The study took place in the
first semester of 2009 and followed the qualitative and descriptive approaches to classroom research.
The author describes how young learners view music as a ludic tool that will improve their oral
performance and how the activities applied by a music teacher help to reinforce the language topics
studied in other English classes.

Music and the Brain: Listening to Music Could Help You Learn

Next time your dormie tells you to turn the music down, just reply 'it's helping me learn!' A study by the Stanford University School of Medicine found that listening to music can help the brain focus and organize information.

For decades, researchers have been studying the link between learning and listening to music. The concept was introduced into the popular imagination in the early 1990s, when Dr. Alfred A. Tomatis coined the phrase 'the Mozart effect.' The term referred to Dr. Tomatis' finding that listening to Mozart could temporarily improve performance on certain spatial-temporal reasoning tasks, such as the Stanford-Binet IQ test. People quickly mis-translated the finding to 'listening to Mozart makes you smarter,' and a new industry was born: To this day there are all sorts of 'intelligence-boosting' products available that claim to harness the power of Mozart.

The link between music and learning isn't all hype, however. A 2009 study by Joseph M. Piro and Camilo Ortiz published in the Psychology of Music journal found that children who were exposed to music training performed better on vocabulary and reading comprehension tests than those who were not. The researchers hypothesized that studying music helped the children develop the mental coding systems necessary to learn language. Although they acknowledge that this is only a preliminary study - simply having different language instructors may have led to measurable differences in ability - the project is part of a growing body of research that suggests that music and learning are correlated.

Music Helps the Brain Focus

Enter the research team at the Stanford University School of Medicine. During a study designed to measure how the brain sorts out different events, they stumbled upon a concrete physiological link between the acts of listening to music and learning. The researchers played short symphonies by obscure 18th-century composers to subjects while scanning their brains with functional magnetic resonance imaging, or fMRI. The research group found that music 'lights up' areas of the brain involved with making predictions, paying attention and committing details to memory.

But don't switch on that stereo just yet - peak brain activity actually occurred between musical movements. Dr. Vinod Menon, the study's senior author, noted that 'In a concert setting, for example, different individuals listen to a piece of music with wandering attention, but at the transition point between movements, their attention is arrested.' In other words, you get the most brain activity just after, or between, intense musical movements.

'I'm not sure if the baroque composers would have thought of it in this way,' Menon added, 'but certainly from a modern neuroscience perspective, our study shows that this is a moment when individual brains respond in a tightly synchronized manner.'

So what does this mean for students? While Stanford hasn't published a 'learning with music' guide just yet, we think it probably can't hurt to incorporate some tunes into your studying routine. Just remember: Study during the interludes.

This idea of Website is created by the "Mesa de Trabajo" Working Group of the career, who is willing to make of our career the best in Colombia, or at least a very good one with quality, innovation, and the best students doing a lot of stuff in English...

In this Blog we're also going to share all the ideas to develop and to make our classmates to be closer, and not to be at home "losing the time, just watching TV" (I know many of you don't do that, but still many do it) on the contrary in the university there are tons of stuff to do, and along with the Working Group we are going to create English clubs, theatrical groups in English, and practices committee in order to go to all the events possible in English (there is still many proposals, and we are going to continuing receiving from the representative of each semester, so that there is participation from all the career.
